How I Love McSweeney’s

There’s a lot to love about McSweeney’s (the publishing house) and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency (the website). And of course, the other work they do (creative writing & tutoring centers)

But I am especially fond of this section of their website:
Open Letters To People Or Entities Who Are Unlikely To Respond.

And, for the women out there, these 2 letters are my favorites:
An Open Letter To Mr. James Thatcher, Brand Manager, Procter & Gamble.
An Open Letter To Officials Of The United States Government Regarding What’s New In My Reproductive Area.

Mark Tucker’s web site (www.marktucker.com) has been in the SotW directory for a while now. Every now and then I visit to see his latest photos.

It seems recently the site was redesigned and he is using AutoViewer, a flash-based photo gallery, to display some of his work. On a widescreen monitor, the effect is really lovely.

Going thru all the sites listed in the directory has been a little sad, since many sites are “off-line”. To be expected since the SotW started back in 2001 (I think). But it has also been great to see some sites still going strong.

One of my favorites is Conclave Obscurum
