bad blogger

August 25th, 2007

What’s the number one rule of blogging? Write often.

What’s my excuse for not writing? (because there’s always some excuse) I started a blog in support of Barack Obama and got completely sucked in to the craziness that is the ‘08 campaign.

Anyways, a few changes at the SotW…I’ve moved the poll for voting on new sites to the sidebar. I’m going to try to post more often about sites that are interesting, that may not fit the SotW criteria but are worth exploring.

The new site to vote on is Dooce.com, a personal blog that has been around for a while, is wickedly funny and well-written, and I was really surprised it wasn’t in the directory already. So take a moment to visit it and vote.

The Darfur Wall

June 20th, 2007

Taking a moment out from Soul of the Web stuff…

The people over at The Darfur Wall are raising money for organizations that directly help the people in Darfur. It is a unique approach…every dollar you donate lights a number. Every number represents one life that has been lost due to the crisis in Darfur.

When I first found the site, there were 3,000 numbers lit. Today there are over 53,000 lit.

If so moved, please light a number (or 2, 10, 20…) at The Darfur Wall. It would be amazing to see a whole panel of the wall lit soon!

What is the Soul of the Web?

April 29th, 2007

For those new to the site…

The Soul of the Web was created to showcase personal sites with great content. There are a ton of sites out there that focus on design. But Soul of the Web was created with content in mind.

Read the About page to see how it started.

Each week or so there will be new sites to vote on to include in the SotW Directory.

The Soul Button is a way for you to participate in the project.

Browse the directory, that’s where all the fun is.

Old Soul

April 17th, 2007

Going thru all the sites listed in the directory has been a little sad, since many sites are “off-line”. To be expected since the SotW started back in 2001 (I think). But it has also been great to see some sites still going strong.

One of my favorites is Conclave Obscurum

I won’t even try to describe it. Just go take a look.

Renewed Soul

April 14th, 2007

The Soul of the Web is back. After neglecting this site for too long, I have finally redesigned with a little help from Wordpress and a beautiful theme by Arcsin.

I am in the process of reviewing all the sites in the directory and weeding out the deadlinks. So the directory should be complete in the next day or so.

Voting on sites to add to the Soul Directory will be open to everyone. So check back soon!

Soul is breathed into the web by men and women who create their own sites. Nestled into the corners and other hidden places, the web holds her treasures. Soul of the Web celebrates and introduces all of us to these sites.
